MasterCraft X-80: Double the Pleasure

The 28-foot X-80 is impressive at first glance - or any other glances for that matter. Active lifestyle boaters often find themselves grinning from ear to ear when faced with the unsurpassed design and incomparable size of the inboard industry’s grandest creation. But when they find out the voluminous room that is created with the twin-point bow and power of the dual GM V-8 engines, it’s double the pleasure.

Four feet longer and 12 inches wider than any other MasterCraft X-Series model, the X-80 is both uncommonly large and uniquely designed. Unlike other inboards, the VectorDrive X-80’s running surface utilizes a vented stepped hull and forked open bow for increased passenger capacity, similar to the X-Star. The X-80’s enormity allows families and friends to spend more time playing and less time making pit stops at the dock. Featuring a 110-gallon fuel tank, the X-80 also sports an enclosed head and a Convenience Center with ice bucket and pressurized fresh water sink.

From bow to stern, the X-80 offers tons of space and comfort. The bow features contoured wrap-around seating, drink holders, powerful JL Audio speakers with separates and lots of storage. It’s also accessible from outside the boat with a stainless steel ladder that telescopes from the vessel’s anchor stowage area – doubling the entry and exit points found on any other boat.

Sitting or standing in the X-80’s cockpit is sublime. The boat’s speedometer, tachometer and Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro cruise control white faced gauges are mounted above the dash in a billet aluminum, bullet-shaped “X-Pod” that puts them in full view of the driver. The remainder of the carbon fiber dash houses all other essential instrumentation, including controls for the X-80’s Triple KGB liner ballast system. There are 3 cup holders and the captain can tune the satellite-ready Clarion AM/FM CD stereo using a digital remote in the armrest. The X-80 is now equipped with the critically acclaimed enhanced MasterCraft Cruise.

The remainder of the X-80’s interior is completely open thanks to the boat’s VectorDrive engine transmission. There’s plenty of walking room and wrap-around seating ideal for sunbathing, including a port-side drop-down lounger. This area is also loaded with amenities including abundant storage, drink holders, JL Audio speakers with separates, interior lighting, 12-volt plugs, floor drains and snap-in carpet.

The X-80’s enlarged fiberglass swim platform is seamlessly integrated into the stern. This oversized area is perfect for boarding the boat, putting on your board, launching a tube or just testing the water temperature.

But the most spectacular features of the X-80 are the twin powerhouses that push this fiberglass castle through the water with ease and confidence. The X-80 is the industry’s only twin engine wakeboard boat, giving you access to 700 horses that will scare water out of its way. Although the X-80 can out-accelerate MasterCraft’s premier ski boat in a head-to-head dual from 0 to 36 mph, it also handles pulling at lower speeds for wakeboarding and wakesurfing, with absolute ease. Once again, doubling your fun.
